SONIDO MARTINES EXCLUSIVO

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Head over to RCRDLBL to get an exclusive tune from the new cumbia / cumbia digital compilation, put together by the deepest digger we know, Sonido Martines!

Los Destellos – Elsa (Sonido Martines remix feat Fefe)

the jam in question is Sonido himself remixing legendary Peruvian chicha cumbia band, Los Destellos de Enrique Delgado, with remix assistance by Fefe, a Brazilian firecracker on the mic. In one example of how Sonido Martines works, he tracked down Los Destellos, explained to them what was going on in the slippery world of ‘new cumbia’, and with their blessings got permission to flip this remix. Now-thing realness with respect for the foundational musicans!

the comp esta muy wapoSonido Martines presents: Nueva Cumbia Argentina! fresh heat from nu-skoolers like El Hijo de la Cumbia, Fauna, and Chancha Via Circuito, and visionary early material from DJ Taz and Damas Gratis, and more! 12″ and digital out now: iTunes / Amazon / Boomkat, etc. K VIVA LA KUMBIA!!

nueva-cumbia

Ok! I’m back in Montreal after a great trip in Newfoundland! Today just getting back in the subject with a nice post from SdC who write on the french blog Le gouter du mercredi (Wednesday snack) (Yes I speak french!) that have tried to summarize in 10 tracks what is the neo or nueva cumbia after Toy Selectah talk!

For my part, I’m happy to share a new remix that my friend Toty in Buenos Aires sent to me last week witch is a Tego Calderon reggaeton cumbia mashup with campanero track!

Wuumbia

Funny thing,

this morning, I was chatting with one of my old friend who wrote on his facebook status to download and listen to Zizek latest mixtape, the one with Douster. The funny thing is that I’m spamming all my friends with my musical taste and news I was quite happy to see that he discover something that he like!!!

This friend, I was not seeing him since a couple of year. The only place I’m seeing him is actually in every Wu Tang Clan concert!

While I was reading Generation Bass blog, I’ve just download this cool remix of Sonido del Principe:

TheMEXmore AD for BLOGS

I’ve got a whitelabel copy of the new Bersa Discos 12″ with a killer Mirlos edit from Toy Selectah — who just sent us a FREE LP of remixes.

Mostly ‘raverton’ edits (raverton = a pretty viable one-man bid for a new genre) of sped-up chopped up hipsta hits. Feist, Cafe Tacuba, Lil Wayne, Justice, etc. Covering all the bases, yes, but in a weird, fast, reggaeton-bmore-club sauce straight from the global (Via Monterrey, MX) bloggy gift economy. (I’ll be back in Mexico in two weeks, btw, DF & Puebla….)

here’s a cumbia remix from it, full tracklist below
